Metaplanet Plans to Acquire a Digital Bank in the Second Phase of Its Bitcoin Strategy, Aiming to Hold 210,000 BTC by 2027
According to ChainCatcher, as reported by Cointelegraph, Simon Gerovich, CEO of Japanese listed company Metaplanet, revealed in an interview with the Financial Times that the company plans to acquire digital banks, including those in Japan, as part of the second phase of its Bitcoin strategy. Currently, Metaplanet holds 15,555 BTC and aims to increase its holdings to 210,000 BTC by 2027 (approximately 1% of the total Bitcoin supply).
Gerovich likened this strategy to a "Bitcoin gold rush," emphasizing the need to build an advantage through rapid accumulation before industry competition intensifies.
