Metaplanet President: The company plans to accumulate 210,000 bitcoins by 2027
ChainCatcher News, according to Bitcoin Magazine, Simon Gerovich, President of the Japanese listed company Metaplanet, emphasized at a special shareholders' meeting the achievements the company has made as a bitcoin reserve company over the past 16 months of operation. He also outlined the company's plan to accumulate 210,000 bitcoins by 2027—accounting for 1% of the total supply. To achieve this goal, the company intends to launch two new financial products—Metaplanet Preferred Shares (Metaplanet Prefs). These perpetual preferred shares are similar to the products issued by Strategy in March 2025 and are designed to support the company's acquisition of bitcoin.
Previous reports stated that Metaplanet shareholders approved three resolutions at an extraordinary general meeting: increasing the total number of authorized shares, allowing the convening of virtual shareholders' meetings, and establishing new terms for perpetual preferred shares.
