A woman in Norman, Oklahoma, says scammers drained her bank account after she responded to an iPhone notification warning of alleged Apple Wallet purchases.

Brenda Myers says the message looked like a standard Apple alert, which told her to call a number to stop the charges, reports the NBC-affiliated Oklahoma News 4.

After responding to the notification, Myers says she spent four hours on the phone with the scammer, leading to her entire bank account being drained.

“It’s been really stressful. I’d never seen a message like that before on my iPhone. So I called it, and then I hung up because I thought this ain’t right. Then something made me call back, and I don’t know why.”

Myers also says that the scammer created a sense of urgency that made her believe in the scheme.

Myers says the thieves drained $1,200 from her bank account, with some of the transactions still recorded in her bank history.

“I had just got paid, and I live on disability, and that was it for the month.”

She is also worried that the bad actors will steal her personal and private information.

“If they go into that, they can get into anything. My phone, Social Security, you know, that really worries me getting my Social Security, my birthday, all that.”
