Due to a third-party customer service provider suffering a cyberattack, Discord has experienced a user data breach.
ChainCatcher news, according to IT Home, social media platform Discord has announced that its third-party customer service provider suffered a hacker attack, resulting in the theft of some customer information, which was then used to extort Discord.
This cybersecurity incident affected some Discord users who had contacted the customer support team or the trust and safety team, involving chat records, real names, usernames, email addresses, IP addresses, transaction histories, payment information, the last four digits of credit cards, and a small number of ID photos used to verify age. After discovering the incident, Discord immediately revoked the third party's access to Discord's ticket system. According to preliminary analysis, the unauthorized third party responsible for the attack did not have the ability to directly access Discord.
