The EU plans to cut off supplies to Rwandan troops in Mozambique, which may affect the security of African liquefied natural gas.Golden Ten Data reported on March 12 that the European Union approved funding of 20 million euros in 2024 to support the Rwandan Defense Forces in carrying out missions in Mozambique’s gas-rich Cabo Delgado province, which is consistent with the amount of aid agreed upon about two years ago. The European Council stated that the funds, allocated under the “European Peace Facility,” are intended to cover personal equipment and logistical expenses. It remains unclear what impact this will have on the thousands of Rwandan soldiers deployed in Mozambique.
