eBay's Chief Financial Officer recently revealed that the company is formulating its 2026 business plan based on a currency-neutral approach, and expects the year-over-year growth rate of gross merchandise volume by then to remain similar to that of 2025.
This strategic forecast highlights the management's robust expectations for mid-term growth, while also reflecting the e-commerce platform’s forward-looking approach in addressing exchange rate fluctuations. By excluding exchange rate factors to observe core growth momentum, eBay demonstrates a deep grasp of its business fundamentals. This predictive framework not only provides investors with quantifiable reference points, but also suggests that the platform may mitigate the impact of exchange rate volatility on overall performance by optimizing cross-border transaction structures and strengthening localized operations. Notably, against the backdrop of global macroeconomic uncertainties, the company’s choice to use relatively conservative growth expectations as a planning benchmark reflects a prudent management philosophy and leaves room for potential outperformance.
