The S&P 500 preliminary close is up 0.7%, with the telecommunications sector up 1.8%, the technology sector up 1.3%, the consumer discretionary sector up 0.9%, while utilities, healthcare, and real estate sectors fell by more than 1.1% at most.
The Nasdaq 100 Index preliminarily closed up 1.3%. Among its constituents, AMD preliminarily closed up 7%, while Astera Labs, Western Digital, Tesla, CoreWeave, Qualcomm, and Seagate Technology each rose at least about 5.4%. Netflix fell 2.4%, O'Reilly Automotive dropped 6.8%, and Rocket Lab fell 7.8%. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index rose 2.1%, and the Storage Chip Index rose 2%.
