Eye drops study fails to meet endpoint, Oculis stock price plummets
Previously, the company stated that its developed OCS-01 eye drops for the treatment of diabetic macular edema (DME) patients failed to meet the primary endpoint in research. In two Phase 3 clinical trials, the main endpoint—the mean change in best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) from baseline to week 52—was not reached. The company plans not to proceed with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) submission for OCS-01 in the indication of diabetic macular edema (DME). Going forward, the company will focus its research and development efforts and financial resources on the ongoing Privosegtor PIONEER clinical registration program for optic neuropathy, as well as the PREDICT-1 clinical registration trial for Licaminlimab in treating dry eye disease. The existing cash flow reserves are expected to support the company's operations until the second half of 2029.
