Aviation fuel reserves in California reach lowest level in two and a half years
Golden Ten Data reported on April 25 that, according to US media sources on the 24th, aviation fuel reserves in California—the most populous and economically significant US state—have dropped to their lowest level in two and a half years due to Middle East conflicts disrupting global oil supplies. The Los Angeles Times, citing data from the California Energy Commission, reported that California's aviation fuel reserves last week were only 2.6 million barrels, down more than 25% from the peak of over 3.5 million barrels last year. The report stated that as fuel supplies tighten, air ticket prices are rising. Airlines are beginning to charge additional baggage fees to offset increased fuel costs. Some flights departing from smaller California airports have been canceled, and a few low-cost airlines are even facing the risk of bankruptcy.
