The South Korean Police Department has requested the International Criminal Police Organization's assistance in repatriating Do Kwon
According to Newsis, the South Korean Police Department announced today that it has sent a telegram to the Interpol General Secretariat on behalf of the Central Secretariat of the Republic of Korea, requesting their attention and support in extraditing the subject to South Korea.
The Ministry of Justice in South Korea stated: "We have not yet received formal notification from Montenegro. Notification will only be given after a decision on repatriation is confirmed. The Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Police Department are working together to obtain repatriation rights."
Earlier reports indicated that the Montenegrin Court of Appeals rejected the extradition decision made by Podgorica High Court on March 5th last month for Kwon and returned him to the original court.
It is reported that the Court of Appeals believed that South Korea's extradition request was dated March 29th last year, earlier than America's request on April 3rd.
