Ethereum's Layer-2 Networks See Lower Than Expected Usage Following Dencun Upgrade
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has expressed disappointment with the low level of usage seen on layer-2 networks following the Dencun upgrade. Buterin praised the flawless implementation of the update but noted that the amount of usage was lower than expected. The Dencun upgrade introduced blobs, a data storage solution that allows layer-2 data to be stored on-chain for a temporary period, reducing gas fees. While some layer-2 networks have yet to integrate Dencun, rising demand for blob space is expected to increase transaction costs.
