El Salvador's worst data security incident in history, over 5 million people's personal information compromised
The personal information of more than 5 million Salvadorans has been compromised since last Saturday, making it the worst data security incident in the country's history. The stolen information includes names, birthdays, phone numbers, addresses, and even high-definition, watermark-free avatars. The leak implicates Afghanistan's El Salvador. The leaked data was sold on the dark web for $250 from August, but the alleged hackers failed to receive the ransom and decided to release the data for free.
