StarkWare has verified zero-knowledge proofs on the Bitcoin test network Signet
On July 18th, PANews reported that blockchain developer StarkWare claimed to have verified the first zero-knowledge proof on Bitcoin's Signet test network using its new STARK verifier. The company's next step is to promote this design to enable more general computations. StarkWare CEO Eli Ben-Sasson stated: "We aim to scale Bitcoin and unleash the power of blockchain to change the world. This is our first step in demonstrating what Bitcoin can achieve using zero-knowledge technology."
After a technical proposal named OP_CAT provided a framework for introducing STARK extensions into Bitcoin, StarkWare announced plans in June to introduce ZK extensions into Bitcoin, with the latest progress being part of this plan.
