U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenows encryption bill vote plan is on hold and may be restarted in September

Odaily News Plans for the U.S. Senate to vote on a cryptocurrency regulation bill have been put on hold this week, but the bill may be restarted again when lawmakers return to Washington in September. According to Politico, Senate Agriculture Committee Chairwoman Debbie Stabenow, a Michigan Democrat, has been working on the bill and plans to hold a markup hearing on Wednesday, but failed to gain the support of the committees top Republican, Arkansas Republican Senator John Boozman. The bill has gone through several iterations as industry leaders and committee members continue to provide input to Senator Stabenows team, Cody Carbone, chief policy officer of the Chamber of Digital Commerce, said in a statement. It now appears that consideration of the bill will be postponed until after the August recess to reach more consensus, and it is positive that Senator Stabenow continues to reach out to stakeholders for feedback. According to a statement released by Stabenows office obtained by Politico reporters, she said she was working with the Senate Banking Committee on the bill and said a Republican senator needed to step up.
