The Wisconsin Investment Committee increased its holdings by nearly 500,000 shares of BlackRock Bitcoin ETF in Q2, and sold all GBTC
According to the 13-F document submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the Wisconsin State Investment Board significantly increased its investment in BlackRock's Bitcoin ETF during the second quarter of 2024, adding 447,651 shares, bringing its total holdings to 2,898,051 shares with a total value of approximately $98.9 million. At the same time, the board decided to liquidate all its holdings in Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC), which were valued at $63.7 million last quarter.
Although BlackRock iShares Bitcoin Trust's shareholdings have grown slightly, due to market price declines, this investment's dollar value has actually decreased by $228,227. This led to a roughly 39% decrease in the board’s overall dollar exposure towards spot bitcoin ETFs at end of this quarter.
However,the Wisconsin State Investment Board also made moves on other cryptocurrency-related assets.They purchased an additional 5,980 shares of Coinbase stock increasing their total holdings up to 98 ,446 shares with a total value close to $21 .9 million.In addition,the board also added more stocks from bitcoin miner Marathon Digital,purchasing another77 ,996shares for a new total holding amounting115 ,084shares worth about$2 .3million.(The Block)
