Bitwise CIO Matt Hougan posted on social media that after reviewing the 13-F files submitted by various institutions a few days ago, he made some preliminary summaries based on the Bitcoin ETF holdings in Q2:

· Institutions are still increasing their holdings and the trend continues: In Q2, there were a total of 1,924 institutional holders of 10 Bitcoin spot ETFs, higher than the 1,479 in Q1. This data increased by about 30%, considering that Bitcoin was falling in Q2, this is already quite good.

· Most institutional investors are diamond hands: Most institutional investors who allocated in Q1 held or bought more positions in Q2. Among those who declared in Q1, 44% of institutions increased their holdings of Bitcoin ETFs in Q2, while 22% remained unchanged; meanwhile,21% reduced their positions and another13% liquidated and exited.

· Hedge funds are still major holders: The top holders of most ETFs are mainstream hedge funds including Millennium,Schonfeld ,Boothbay,Capula etc. But there's also a large number of advisors, family offices, and selected institutional investors. With time passing by,it's expected to see an increasing share from wealth management companies and pensions.
