Polygon Executive: RWA is a $30 Trillion Opportunity
Colin Butler, the head of global institutional capital at Polygon, stated that tokenized real-world assets (RWAs) represent a global market opportunity of $300 trillion. High-net-worth individuals and private equity funds will drive adoption in this area as tokenization brings liquidity and accessibility. Butler pointed out that the current market for tokenized real-world assets has reached $11.66 billion and is expected to grow significantly in the future. Approximately $9 billion has already been invested in tokenized private credit instruments, with notable examples including KKR and Hamilton Lane. Butler anticipates tens of billions of dollars worth of tokenized private assets will be issued over the next few years. Currently, there are about $11.6 billion worth of tokenized RWAs held on blockchain networks, with the most popular being tokenized money market funds such as BlackRock USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund and Franklin OnChain U.S Government Money Fund.
