Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is set to launch on PS5 in 2025. The upcoming game will be available for Xbox Series X/S and PC later this year. The decision is part of Microsoft’s decision to release game titles across multiple platforms.

Machine Games’ Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is set to launch on PlayStation in the first half of 2025. The single-player action-adventure video game is set to get Xbox exclusivity when it’s released later this year. The game will later be accessible to players on PS5 after the exclusive window expires.

Microsoft to Launch Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is an upcoming game developed by Machine Games and published by Bethesda Softworks. The action-adventure game is set in the Indiana Jones franchise and ties into the franchise’s narrative which is documented in several films. The game’s events are set between the film Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989). Players enter the game as “Indy” and explore the expansive world featuring many real-world locations such as Egypt, Rome, Thailand, and Rome.

As teased by the title, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will follow the renowned archaeologist in his adventures in 1937. Indy goes up against various groups as they seek to control and exploit the power of the Great Circle. The Great Circle is an arrangement of mysterious sites around the world that form a perfect circle when connected on a map. Players will navigate the expansive world by opting for the interwoven storyline to engage in combat or compete in mission objectives using stealth. The character’s signature whip is also available and will critically aid combat and traverse obstacles when completing missions.

In January 2021, Machine Games and Bethesda jointly announced that the game was under development. The development was done in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games, a Disney subsidiary. The developers also released a teaser trailer that provided clues about the game’s setting, which was later confirmed when the gameplay footage was released.

Microsoft releases games for other platforms

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will release in late 2024, with the exact release date being unconfirmed. The game will first be released on Xbox & PC as a timed console exclusively available via Xbox Game Pass. The game will then be released for PS5 in the first half of 2025 after the exclusive period expires. This cross-platform approach was first proposed before ZeniMax’s acquisition by Xbox.

Microsoft confirmed that it will release several Xbox first-party titles for other platforms. Hi-Fi Rush, Grounded, Sea of Thieves, and Grounded are among the previously Xbox-exclusive titles to be released for PS5 and Nintendo consoles. The decision to release these games has drawn speculation from players such as ACatNamedOlive , who gave the news mixed reactions with most stating that it was a business decision to keep the company profitable.
