The surge in Bitcoin within a year has helped create over 84,000 new cryptocurrency millionaires
According to a BlockBeats news report on August 27, CNBC reported that according to a new study, the number of global cryptocurrency millionaires has surged by 95% over the past year with the rise of Bitcoin ETFs and other crypto assets.
The report from New World Wealth and Henley Partners states that there are currently 172,300 individuals globally who hold more than $1 million in crypto assets, significantly up from last year's figure of 88,200. The number of those solely holding Bitcoin has more than doubled to reach 85,400.
The number of crypto-rich is increasing at all levels of wealth. The report shows that there are currently 325 cryptocurrency billionaires (holding $100 million or above in crypto assets), as well as 28 cryptocurrency multi-billionaires.
This surge reflects the rapid growth of Bitcoin ETFs which have amassed over $50 billion in assets since their launch in January and sparked institutional participation.
Bitcoin prices have risen by about 45% this year to approximately $64,000. With the increase in value for other cryptocurrencies too, market capitalization for these digital assets has grown to $2.3 trillion - higher than last summer's total valuation at around $1.2 trillion.
