Coinbase spokesperson: Harris did not directly accept cryptocurrency donations, but her PAC accepted
Coinbase CFO Alesia Haas said at a Citigroup event on Wednesday that Harris "is accepting cryptocurrency donations," which appears to be inaccurate. A Coinbase spokesperson said that Alesia Haas was referring to Future Forward USA PAC, which is dedicated to supporting Kamala Harris, not Harris' campaign team. The spokesperson said, "Coinbase can confirm that Future Forward PAC has partnered with Coinbase Commerce to accept cryptocurrency donations." Harris' campaign website currently does not offer cryptocurrency donations, and Crypto4Harris, an advocacy group, told Fortune magazine that they were not aware of this development. Although Harris' campaign team has not directly accepted cryptocurrency donations, Future Forward USA is Harris' main source of support, and this development may at least be a signal of Democrats' interest in cryptocurrency.
