By mid-September 2024, approximately $135.4 million worth of dormant Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) has been revived, with a total of 2,253.54 BTC transacted.

The majority of these movements were traced back to wallets from 2016, which led the activity by moving 1,549.51 BTC through nine separate transactions.

This surge in dormant Bitcoin transactions marks an increase in activity, potentially signaling strategic moves by long-term holders.

According to btcparser.com, 32 dormant Bitcoin transactions emerged in the first two weeks of September, with most of the volume coming from wallets that have been inactive since 2016.

One notable transaction involved 1,350.27 BTC from a 2016 wallet on September 4, highlighting the significant scale of some of these movements.

While 2016 wallets dominated the activity, there were also notable transactions from other years.

For example, eight wallets from 2013 moved a total of 404.76 BTC, including two significant transfers of 146.43 BTC and 185.51 BTC on September 10.

Wallets from 2014 and 2015 also showed some movement, with 134.28 BTC and 50 BTC transacted, respectively.

No activity has been recorded from sleeping Bitcoin wallets from 2010 or 2011, which have become increasingly rare over time.

However, this month did see a small amount of movement from 2012 wallets, with 48.99 BTC moved through two transactions.

Meanwhile, 2017 has shown limited activity, with three transactions totaling 66 BTC.

At the time of reporting, the Bitcoin (BTC) price was $59,817.82.
