A recent survey conducted by the Brazilian investment platform Rico revealed that 34.6% of young investors, aged between 24 and 35, include cryptocurrency in their portfolios.

This makes cryptocurrency the fourth most popular investment among this age group, following savings accounts, fixed-income products, and stocks.

The survey polled 1,008 respondents and highlighted that 50% of the participants favored savings accounts, while fixed-income products and stocks attracted 41% and 37.2%, respectively.

Rico's research analyst Antonio Sanches explained the relatively lower preference for cryptocurrencies, despite their increasing visibility in Brazil.

He noted that traditional financial products, like savings accounts, remain popular because they are well-established and widely accessible through banking institutions.

"It is a product that has been consolidated in the lives of Brazilians for a long time and is popular in banks, where investors need to have an account to move money around on a daily basis.," Sanches remarked, emphasising that savings options have been a familiar part of the financial landscape for young Brazilians.

The study also highlighted a growing trend of young investors placing bets, which was flagged as risky behavior.

Sanches cautioned that betting should not be classified as a reliable form of investment due to its inherent unpredictability.

He advised young investors to thoroughly research financial products, understanding their potential returns, liquidity, and associated risks before making any decisions.

“It is important that they know the profitability, liquidity, and risk that the asset offers, something that does not exist in the betting market,” Sanches stressed.
