Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential nominee, made a significant statement regarding digital assets during a recent speech at the Economic Club of Pittsburgh.

Harris expressed her commitment to ensuring that the United States remains a key player in blockchain, artificial intelligence, and other emerging technology sectors.

She stated, “We will invest in biomanufacturing and aerospace, remain dominant in AI and quantum computing, blockchain and other emerging technologies, and expand our lead in clean energy innovation and manufacturing.”

This marks her first public endorsement of cryptocurrency protections.

Previously, Harris had been relatively quiet about her views on crypto until a statement made on September 22, where she highlighted the need to promote innovative technologies, including digital assets, while emphasizing consumer protection.

Her 82-page economic plan released alongside the speech makes a brief reference to digital assets, stating her administration would “encourage innovative technologies like AI and digital assets while protecting our consumers and investors.”

During her speech, Harris also stressed the importance of the U.S. maintaining its technological lead over other nations, particularly China.

Analysts have suggested that the election outcome could have varying impacts on crypto assets.

In a research note, VanEck analysts indicated that a Harris victory might enhance Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) adoption, while a Trump presidency could support deregulation within the crypto sector.

Polling data shows Harris and Trump are closely matched, with her leading by just 2.5 percentage points as of September 25.

According to Bernstein analysts, if Harris is elected, Bitcoin’s price could potentially fall to $30,000, whereas a Trump victory could see it rise to $90,000.

At the time of reporting, the Bitcoin price was $62,906.28.
