The minutes of the Federal Reserve's September meeting will be announced at 2:00 a.m. this Thursday in Singapore time. The SEB Bank in Northern Sweden stated, "In addition to the interest rate cut at the September meeting, we also received new economic forecasts indicating that the U.S. economy will have a soft landing in 2026 with an economic growth rate of around 2% and inflation close to target levels." Interest rate predictions show two cuts of 25 basis points by the end of this year and a reduction of 100 basis points by 2025.
In the minutes, discussions about future pace of interest rate cuts and factors that may trigger faster cuts will be interesting. Given that we are now in an interest-rate-cutting cycle, how discussions on long-term rates proceed as well as when and at what level they bottom out will also become more intriguing.
