Financial experts сообщили , that Russian banks currently do not have the funds to start working with the digital ruble. According to them, small and medium-sized banking institutions will have to spend at least 120-200 million rubles each to connect to the platform of the third form of national currency.

For banks that are not large, annual budgets for information infrastructure and its updating amount to no more than 20 million rubles, analysts emphasized.

In particular, the head of the transaction business of the company Uniteller, Niyaz Sharipov, pointed out that banks will have to find funds to adapt their internal systems to the digital ruble, which they do not have.

Alexey Voylukov, professor of MBA business practice in digital finance at RANEPA, agrees with him. He noted that for banks that are small or medium-sized, spending 200 million to connect to the digital ruble platform is impossible due to limited budgets.

In his opinion, small and medium-sized banks will suffer huge losses, since they may have few clients working with digital rubles, and the costs of maintaining the infrastructure will be excessive.

Experts see a way out of the current situation in the appearance on the market of a greater number of players and offers related to the digital ruble, thanks to which the entry threshold for small and medium-sized banks will be lowered.

It is worth recalling that the Bank of Russia has threatened to fine those banks that do not connect their systems to the digital ruble.
