Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs See Second Largest Day of Outflows—Over $700B in Exits
- U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs command $106.82 billion in BTC, or 5.74% of its market cap.
- Bitcoin has dropped under $95,000 – Ethereum briefly traded under $3,250 today.
- U.S. spot Ethereum ETFs hold $11.74 billion in net assets or 2.97% of ETH’s market cap.
U.S. spot Bitcoin ( BTC ) and Ethereum ( ETH ) exchange-traded funds (ETFs) may be entering a period of volatility as funds post gigantic exits, amounting to the second-largest day of outflows for both assets.
It follows a three-day $1.9 billion inflow streak for BTC ETFs and a rather consistent inflow run for ETH funds.

Bitcoin ETFs
As per SoSoValue, Bitcoin ETFs suffered gigantic outflows of $582.9 million on Jan. 8, 2025, marking their second-worst day of outflows since launching on Jan. 11, 2024.
Losses were heavy for Fidelity’s Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC), which saw $258.69 million in net outflows, dropping its cumulative net inflows to $12.14 billion.
The ARK 21Shares Bitcoin ETF (ARKB)also saw sizeable outflows, recording $148.3 million in exits. BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), the top-performing fund by cumulative inflows and total net assets, posted outflows totaling $124.05 million.
Valkyrie’s Bitcoin Fund (BRRR) felt smaller losses of $14.1 million, as did Bitwise Bitcoin ETF (BITB), which saw outflows of $11.26 million.
The Invescro Galaxy Bitcoin ETF (BTCO) posted a modest outflow of $9.38 million.
It’s closely followed by the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC), which shed $8.94 million, raising its cumulative net outflows to an eye-watering $21.58 billion.
Finally, Franklin Templeton Digital Holdings Trust (EZBC) posted net outflows of $8.17 million.
Ethereum ETFs
As per SoSoVaue data, Ethereum ETFs recorded $159.34 million in net outflows on Jan. 8, 2024, marking their second-worst day of outflows since launching in late July 2024.
Just three funds posted outflows. Taking the biggest hit overall today, Fidelity’s Ethereum Fund (FETH) took a relatively big hit and recorded $147.68 million in net outflows.
The Grayscale Ethereum Trust (ETHE), which has only seen two days of net inflows, posted $8.26 million in net outflows. This brings its cumulative net outflows to $3.68 billion. Grayscale’s Ethereum Mini Trust has also suffered minor outflows of $3.4 million.
