Ripple executives Brad Garlinghouse, the company's CEO, and Stuart Alderoty, its chief legal officer, attended a dinner with Donald Trump at the Mar-a-Lago resort, raising speculation about possible discussions related to cryptocurrency regulation in the United States.

In a post on X on January 8, Garlinghouse shared a photo with Trump and Alderoty, describing the evening as a strong start to the year. Alderoty also joined in the online conversation, casually highlighting the quality of the dinner with the comment: “The beef bourguignon was excellent.”

At the time of publication, the price of XRP was quoted at US$2,32, up 3.1% in the last 24 hours.

The meeting comes at a crucial time for Ripple, which recently secured a significant court victory against the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). In a landmark ruling, the court ruled that the XRP token is not a security, which could influence the regulatory approach to other digital assets. Despite the victory, the case remains on appeal, with the SEC having until January 15 to file new arguments.

With the partial victory and the new political context, Garlinghouse expressed optimism about what he called the “Trump effect,” mentioning an increase in opportunities for Ripple within the United States since Trump’s return to politics. Previously, regulatory scrutiny led by Gary Gensler forced Ripple to focus its expansion efforts outside the United States.

Additionally, parallel discussions with political figures such as Senator Cynthia Lummis and future SEC Chairman Paul Atkins are pointing to potential reforms aimed at supporting innovation in the digital asset sector.

Meanwhile, the market has been responding positively to Ripple and XRP, with analysts predicting significant potential price increases for the token. The company is also expanding its reach by including RLUSD on more platforms and collaborating with Chainlink to improve pricing accuracy in the DeFi ecosystem.
