Uniswap integrates API with Ledger Live for secure token swaps

Uniswap integrates API with Ledger Live for secure token swaps

Uniswap Labs has announced a new integration with Ledger, allowing users to perform token swaps directly through the Ledger Live app while maintaining control over their assets.

This partnership aims to enhance accessibility to decentralised finance (DeFi) by integrating Uniswap’s (CRYPTO:UNI) Trading API into the Ledger Live platform.

With this integration, users can swap tokens without leaving the Ledger Live interface, ensuring a seamless self-custody experience.

Mary-Catherine Lader, chief operating officer of Uniswap Labs, emphasised that this development aligns with their mission “to unlock value through universal exchange” and simplify the user experience in self-custody.

Ian Rogers, chief experience officer at Ledger, highlighted the introduction of a clear signing feature that enables users to verify transaction details in a human-readable format.

“Clear signing is the only secure way users should be authorising transactions,” he stated.

This feature eliminates the need for blind-signing permissions, enhancing security and user trust.

The integration focuses initially on the Ethereum (CRYPTO:ETH) network and will support token swaps such as exchanging Ether for stablecoins directly from self-custody wallets.

Rogers noted that this collaboration reflects a shared vision of providing secure platforms for digital asset management while moving closer to a universal exchange experience.

Despite these advancements, Uniswap has faced recent security challenges.

On January 13, BitsLab’s security subsidiary ScaleBit identified a potential vulnerability in the Uniswap Wallet app that could compromise stored assets.

The suspected flaw may allow attackers with physical access to bypass authentication mechanisms and retrieve the wallet’s seed phrase.

Uniswap has yet to respond publicly to this issue.

As the integration progresses, both Uniswap and Ledger are focused on improving user security and experience in the evolving DeFi landscape.

At the time of reporting, the Uniswap (UNI) price was $13.30.
