More than 50% of validators expressed a desire to increase ETH’s gas limit
As of February 4th, Gaslimit.pics (a website that actively tracks the progress of validators' support for higher gas limits) shows that 52% of validators are in favor, exceeding the threshold of at least half agreeing to expand the first layer network. Validators can adjust their node configurations to indicate support for increasing the limit, allowing the network to expand without a hard fork. According to Ycharts data, Ethereum's average gas limit has increased from around 15 million in August 2021 to around 30 million.
