U.S. Senate Banking Committee Chairman Tim Scott expects crypto bill to pass within 100 days of Trump taking office
According to a report from Decrypt, David Sacks, the White House AI and cryptocurrency lead, held the first cryptocurrency-themed press conference on Tuesday, outlining legislative priorities and revealing major moves by the Trump administration to regulate the emerging industry: a market structure bill and a comprehensive stablecoin bill. Key leaders from the Senate and House of Representatives attended the event, with Senate Banking Committee Chairman Tim Scott stating that he plans to push for both key cryptocurrency bills to be passed in the Senate within the first 100 days of Donald Trump's presidency - a deadline that is less than three months away. Scott added that a stablecoin bill, the GENIUS Act, proposed by Senator Bill Hagerty on Tuesday, may be the first to be advanced.
