Reuters survey: 59% of the interviewed economists believe that the Bank of Japan will raise interest rates in July
According to the latest survey by Reuters, of the 39 economists surveyed, 59% predict that the Bank of Japan will raise interest rates in July, while 13% believe it may happen as early as May. Over 65% of economists said that the Bank of Japan will raise its key interest rate to 0.75% in the third quarter. All 61 economists agreed that the Bank of Japan will maintain its current key interest rate at 0.50% on March 19th. According to median forecasts, it is expected that by end-March 2026, The Bank of Japan's interest rate would reach up to1.00%, a terminal rate expectation consistent with survey results from November last year.
