Trump starts selling immigration "gold card", priced at 5 million US dollars
U.S. President Trump stated that he is initiating a program to provide residency rights and a path to citizenship for investors paying $5 million, offering a new route for legal immigrants while simultaneously cracking down on undocumented immigrants. Trump said this plan, known as the "gold card," will be launched within two weeks and added that he believes his administration does not need approval from Congress. It is currently unclear what the full scope of this plan is and how it will be implemented. He added: "We are going to price this card at about $5 million, it will give you green card privileges." He was referring to the green cards currently issued to permanent residents in the United States.
