Amir Taaki says crypto has not fulfilled its vision

Early Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) developer Amir Taaki has expressed disappointment in the current state of cryptocurrency, arguing that its integration into existing financial and political structures has weakened its original purpose.

“Crypto failed to achieve its vision because nobody understands the nature of power. They attempted to integrate within the existing regimes of truth, but made themselves subservient to their ideology,” Taaki shared on social media.

He described two possible paths for crypto projects—either becoming rigid institutions driven by groupthink or lacking any structured vision, leading to failure.

“To truly deliver crypto will require a new regime of truth. One which is ideological and authentic,” he emphasised.

While critical of the direction crypto has taken, Taaki also acknowledged the responsibility of early developers in shaping its trajectory.

“The failure is all ours. We have to organize and present a coherent vision,” he stated.

Despite his concerns, Taaki remains optimistic about the potential for change.

He believes that shifting power dynamics could create opportunities for decentralisation.

“States will lose power. We have to mobilize because this is a special time we inhabit,” he said.

Taaki has been vocal in his criticism of Bitcoin’s current development, accusing core developers of corruption.

Over time, he has shown increasing interest in Ethereum  (CRYPTO:ETH) and decentralised finance, shifting away from his early Bitcoin focus.

As the industry evolves, figures like Taaki continue to challenge its direction and purpose.
