The U.S. stock market opens, GameStop's performance rises over 13% after earnings
The U.S. stock market opened, with the Dow Jones up 0.16%, the S&P 500 index down 0.08%, and the Nasdaq down 0.3%. GameStop (GME.N) rose over 13% after earnings.
Previously reported, game retailer GameStop updated its investment policy to include Bitcoin in its corporate reserves. The document states, "The company's investment policy allows for investments in certain cryptocurrency assets, including Bitcoin and US dollar stablecoins; if the company acquires Bitcoin or US dollar stablecoins, it will face specific risks associated with Bitcoin or stablecoins; as well as maintaining effective internal financial reporting controls."
