Crypto ETPs see $226M inflows amid asset decline

Cryptocurrency exchange-traded products (ETPs) recorded $226 million in inflows during the week ending March 28, extending a two-week positive trend after five consecutive weeks of outflows, according to CoinShares data.

Despite the inflows, total assets under management (AUM) for crypto ETPs fell to $133.9 billion—the lowest level in 2025—due to declining cryptocurrency prices.

Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) ETPs dominated inflows with $195 million, while short-BTC products saw $2.5 million in outflows for the fourth straight week.

Altcoins collectively attracted $33 million in inflows, reversing a four-week streak of withdrawals totaling $1.7 billion.

Ethereum (CRYPTO:ETH) led altcoin inflows at $14.5 million, followed by Solana (CRYPTO:SOL) ($7.8 million), XRP (CRYPTO:XRP) ($4.8 million), and Sui (CRYPTO:SUI) ($4 million).

CoinShares’ head of research, James Butterfill, attributed the AUM decline to Bitcoin’s 13.6% price drop since January 2025, which has reduced the total market capitalisation by nearly 20%.

“Recent price falls have pushed Bitcoin global ETPs’ total assets under management to their lowest level since just after the US election at $114 billion,” he noted.

The inflows suggest cautious optimism amid economic uncertainty, with investors reacting to higher-than-expected U.S. core Personal Consumption Expenditures data.

However, the AUM slump highlights the sensitivity of crypto ETPs to broader market volatility.

Bitcoin’s price decline has disproportionately impacted ETP valuations, as the asset’s dominance in crypto markets amplifies its influence on sector-wide metrics.

While inflows indicate renewed interest, sustained price stability will likely be needed to reverse the AUM downturn.
