Why is 2nd migration of Pi Network getting delayed? Understand hereWhat is Pi Mainnet Migration? Why is Pi Mainnet Migration a time taking process?

Ever since the launch of its mainnet, there has been a lot of chatter around Pi Network’s extensive migration phases as millions of users await their minted Pi balances to convert them into Pi cryptocurrency.

As of now, the Pi Network project has successfully migrated more than 12 million users in the first migration phase, after completing their know-your-customer (KYC) process along with the audit of minted data and other formalities.

Of late, several Pi network fans have been wanting to know when the second migration phase would be initiated by the core team. For those users who have already migrated in the first phase, the second migration phase offers lucrative rewards like referral mining bonuses attributable to referral team members who passed KYC.

The Pi Core team has also recently revealed the roadmap for their mainnet migration process of their millions of users.

In this article, we will explain why the first phase of mainnet migration is taking a lot of time and why Pioneers would have to hold tight for months before they could avail additional benefits and bonuses reserved for them in the second phase.

What is Pi Mainnet Migration?

The Mainnet migration is a sophisticated and scale-intensive process, including the migration of Pi balances for tens of millions of users built up over six years.

In contrast to a simple airdrop executed by most other crypto projects, the migration of Pi is rooted in audited mining data and contains protections against cheating and guarantees fairness.

This project has already successfully migrated more than 12 million users, which is a significant milestone in scalability terms, particularly keeping in mind the in-house KYC and migration procedure offered at no fiat expense to users.

Why is Pi Mainnet Migration a time taking process?

There are over 60 million followers of Pi network across the world, from Nigeria to India to Vietnam. While the project has seen considerable delays since 2019 regarding its mainnet launch, it is safe to assume that the migration phase is a time taking process, given the magnitude of data involved.

The Pi core team has always maintained that their priority is to ensure that the migration process is transparent and just for all users, whilst maintaining a zero tolerance policy for bot accounts and other hacks used by people.

“The migration needs to occur for a network of tens of millions based on complex mining data over the last 6 years to ensure accuracy, security and fairness for honest Pioneers by excluding cheating. It is not just a simple airdrop to tens of thousands of wallets, without much consideration of additional data, like in many other crypto projects,” read a recent blogpost from Pi Network Foundation .

When can we expect Pi Network 2nd Mainnet Migration?

There has not be any official announcements regarding the date for second phase of migration and given the current status of mainnet migration, many are expecting that Q2 or Q3 of 2025 would see the second phase. For now, the priority for Pi Core team is to ensure that the first phase of migration gets done by Q1 of 2025.
