EU Official: EU Will Be Ready to Respond to US Tariffs, All Options Are on the Table

European Commission Vice President Šefčovič stated that during the 90-day tariff suspension period offered by Trump, the EU will be ready to respond to the significant tariffs imposed by the US on EU imports, with all options on the negotiation table. Šefčovič mentioned that US tariffs now cover 70% of the EU's trade with US goods, and this proportion could rise to 97% after further investigations into pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, and other products by the US. Šefčovič emphasized that negotiating with the US to reach a solution remains the EU's clearest and most desired outcome. He also noted that the EU will use the tariff suspension period until July 8 to prepare further rebalancing measures and ensure a fair competitive environment in case negotiations fail.
