Images shared by users like Ord Deutscher show receipts with BTC amounts, and some customers have reported receiving commemorative Bitcoin coins for using the new payment method. The reception among regulars has been positive, with reports of fast and flawless transactions.
The initiative comes after a survey conducted in March on the network's social media, which generated great engagement from the crypto community. The publication even caught the attention of Jack Dorsey, CEO of Block, who publicly supported the acceptance of the digital asset.
Since then, the network has intensified its communication aimed at crypto enthusiasts, with promotional actions, raffles of prizes such as Tesla cars and Bitcoin-related teasers in its marketing campaigns.
The adoption of Bitcoin by a chain with a national presence stands out among major brands in the food sector, which have so far been exploring crypto assets in a specific or experimental way. Subway, Burger King and Chipotle, for example, have carried out limited tests with cryptocurrencies in specific regions.
Steak 'n Shake's decision comes just days before Bitcoin Pizza Day, a date that commemorates the first documented purchase with Bitcoin, when a programmer paid 10.000 BTC for two pizzas in 2010. Now, the network's move reinforces the presence of digital assets in the daily lives of American consumers.
