The FIFA+ Collect platform allows fans to purchase, trade, and showcase officially licensed NFT collectibles. These digital items feature memorable highlights from FIFA tournaments, legendary players, and historic goals. By leveraging Avalanche’s fast and eco-friendly blockchain, FIFA+ Collect promises low transaction fees and a seamless user experience, making NFT ownership accessible to a global audience.

Avalanche was chosen for its high throughput, low costs, and environmental sustainability. The blockchain’s consensus mechanism ensures rapid transaction finality, which is crucial for a platform that is expected to serve millions of users. According to FIFA, Avalanche’s technology aligns with its goal of providing an inclusive and scalable digital experience for soccer fans everywhere.

This partnership marks FIFA’s first major step into the NFT space, following a broader trend of sports organizations embracing blockchain technology. Other leagues, such as the NBA and NFL, have launched similar digital collectible projects in recent years, with platforms like NBA Top Shot gaining significant traction. FIFA+ Collect launched just before the 2026 World Cup, allowing fans to own pieces of soccer history. The platform is accessible to users worldwide, with plans to expand its offerings and introduce new features based on community feedback.

Notably, FIFA plans to launch its blockchain network. The new EVM-compatible platform is designed to host FIFA’s official NFT collection, FIFA Collect, which will be transferred from its current home on the Algorand blockchain. This migration will require users to adopt EVM-compatible wallets like MetaMask, as external Algorand wallets will no longer function to access the collectibles.
