XRP Army Thrashes Zuckerberg Over Meta Buying Ripple Rumors
The XRP community, known as the “XRP Army,” erupted in outrage this week after unverified claims around Ripple. Speculations began circulating online that Meta Platforms Inc., led by Mark Zuckerberg, is planning to acquire Ripple Labs, the blockchain company behind the XRP crypto.
XRP Army Lashes Out at Mark Zuckerberg Amid Rumored Meta-Ripple Deal
The idea seems to have started with Paul Barron Network’s podcast, where it was stated that Meta is eyeing Ripple acquisition . They backed their point by showing how Ripple is well-equipped for cross-border payments and stablecoins, areas where Meta is interested. The rumor quickly ignited backlash across X (formerly Twitter) and Reddit where the “XRP Army” fiercely rejected the idea.
Reddit threads in the r/XRP subreddit exploded with criticism and skepticism. A user named hulkwolf summed up the dominant sentiment bluntly: “Meta would kill the project and banks would not use XRP nor would SWIFT in any capacity.”
Others echoed concerns about Meta’s notorious track record with digital innovation. They accused CEO Mark Zuckerberg of sabotaging promising ventures. As Radiant-Pickle-4826 noted, “Zuckerberg kills projects.”
Community members are particularly wary of Meta’s history with blockchain and crypto-related ventures, especially after the failure of Diem, its previously planned stablecoin. “If Meta purchased it, then it would be the end for the project,” wrote DugdaleB. They added, “Meta would harvest the work and knowledge to design one of their own and force it on the entities that are already testing the current Ripple system.”
Adding to the chorus of disapproval, Odd-Farm270 commented, “The investment would be great for the price, but bad for the project IMO.” This comment highlights the division between financial gain and long-term vision. Meanwhile, jesjelglord didn’t mince words, declaring, “I would cash and dash. F*** Meta.”
Another frequently cited point was Ripple’s own growth ambitions. Remarkable-Opening69 referenced talks of Ripple acquiring Circle although not confirmed at the moment. They wrote, “Ripple just tried to buy a stablecoin. I don’t think they will turn around and sell themselves lol.”
Notably, the community also spotlighted that Ripple’s core infrastructure, XRP Ledger (XRPL), is decentralized and cannot be bought outright. As theoneeyedavenger reassured, “Fortunately, he can’t buy the XRPL.”
Although the rumor has not been confirmed by anyone credible, the response points to how much the XRP community cares about Ripple’s freedom. Even so, the crypto community is waiting for confirmation from officials on these speculations.
