Pakistan allocates 2000 MW of installed capacity for Bitcoin mining
Odaily Planet Daily News: In the first phase of Pakistan's nationwide plan to support Bitcoin mining and AI data centers, a power generation capacity of 2000 megawatts has been allocated. The country is currently promoting the legalization of cryptocurrency and attracting foreign investment. In a statement, the Pakistani Ministry of Finance said that the plan, led by the Pakistan Cryptocurrency Committee, will also help monetize surplus energy and create high-tech jobs. The Ministry of Finance stated that coal-fired power projects currently operating at 15% capacity, such as those in Sahiwal, China Hub, and Port Qasim, are expected to be repurposed for this plan.
