Elon Musk's X crash triggers third global outage in a week
- X Platform suffers third consecutive technical failure
- Users report global instability on Elon Musk's X
- X issues raise questions about digital infrastructure
Social media giant X, formerly known as Twitter and owned by Elon Musk, has faced its third global outage in less than a week. On Saturday morning, thousands of users reported serious outages on the platform, including difficulties accessing their timelines, posting content or using basic functions of the site.
According to data from Downdetector , more than 25 complaints were registered at the peak of the instability, around 8:37 a.m. Eastern time. The outage adds to others that occurred on Thursday and Friday, raising concerns about the infrastructure and stability of the service.
So far, X's technical team has not officially commented on the most recent outage. However, on Thursday, the engineering team reported that issues related to data centers were impacting the social network's performance. Since then, no new statement has been published.
X is aware some of our users are experiencing performance issues on the platform today. We are experiencing a data center outage and the team is actively working to remediate the issue.

These episodes come amid a series of administrative and technical changes since Elon Musk took control of the company in 2022. Among the changes are staff cuts, the implementation of paid verification and efforts to transform X into a multifunctional platform that integrates media, communications and payments — something akin to the concept of a “super app”.
Although it is common on large platforms, the recurrence of X failures is noteworthy. In March of this year, the network was also the target of a significant outage, when more than 40 thousand users reported failures in logging in and other functions. At the time, Musk stated that the system had been attacked by agents with technical capacity comparable to that of a nation state.
X’s instability during high-traffic events raises questions about its technical resilience, especially at peak usage times. One of the most notable episodes occurred last year during a live broadcast, when a DDoS attack took the platform offline for hours.
