VTuber Fans Go 3D: Mawari Launches vTubeXR with Japan’s Biggest Agencies
Tokyo-based startup Mawari is reshaping digital fan engagement with the launch of vTubeXR, an immersive 3D platform that enables real-time interactions between fans and virtual YouTubers (VTubers), virtual avatars operated by real people to produce livestream content.
vTubeXR Launch Set for Expo 2025
Unveiled today, the extended reality (XR) platform will make its debut this summer at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, in partnership with two of Japan’s biggest VTuber agencies: Brave group and Virtual Avex.

Set to run from June through August, the early access rollout will offer exclusive XR-powered meet-and-greets, enabling one-on-one and small-group interactions between VTubers and global fans.
“With vTubeXR, we’re creating a new era where fans can truly meet and connect with virtual creators in ways that were never before possible,” said Luis Oscar Ramirez Solorzano, CEO of Mawari Corporation.
Redefining Digital Intimacy
Mawari’s vTubeXR platform uses its own 3D streaming technology and computing network to deliver smooth, real-time experiences on devices like AR glasses, smartphones, and XR headsets such as Meta Quest, without needing a physical studio setup.
The company says this tech enables fans to meet virtual creators in lifelike 3D environments, making the experience feel immediate and personal. It’s designed to scale globally and could be used in industries beyond entertainment.
A survey Mawari conducted before launch shows strong interest: 86% of respondents said they would pay for real-time, spatial interactions, while 76% wanted more personalized digital experiences.
Japan’s Booming VTuber Market
The launch comes amid surging interest in VTubers, digital avatars operated by real people, often using motion capture, voice acting, and streaming technology to create content on platforms like YouTube , Twitch, and TikTok.
Japan’s domestic VTuber market is expected to hit $1.5 billion by 2026, with thousands of creators active across livestreams, music, anime, and gaming content.
Brave group, a leader in entertainment IP development, plans to use vTubeXR for live XR performances and interactive storytelling events. Virtual Avex, meanwhile, will launch recurring weekend fan meetups starting in June.
Beyond Entertainment: Building a Scalable XR Economy
Following its showcase at Expo 2025, Mawari aims to scale vTubeXR to more IP holders and production companies, enabling sustainable business models for immersive fan engagement.
The company is also exploring new use cases such as real-time language learning, AI avatar tour guides, and multilingual virtual assistants.
The launch aligns with Mawari’s long-term strategy to position itself as the first decentralized physical infrastructure network ( DePIN ) for spatial computing.
“vTubeXR represents a leap toward scalable, monetizable XR fan experiences that are not bound by geography or hardware,” the company said in a statement.
Why This Matters
As virtual and real-world experiences converge, Mawari’s technology may redefine how digital creators engage with their global fan bases.
