Trump Administration's Cuts to US Research Funding Spark Outrage, 16 States File Lawsuit
According to a report by Jinse Finance, 16 U.S. states, including New York, California, Illinois, and New Jersey, filed a lawsuit in the federal court in Manhattan, New York, on the 28th local time, seeking to prevent the Trump administration from significantly cutting federal funding for scientific research and related programs aimed at increasing diversity in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). According to the report, the attorneys general of these states stated that the Trump administration does not have the authority to restrict research funding or to cancel diversity programs authorized by Congress and provided by the National Science Foundation.
