US Financial Regulator Chief Responds to Powell Resignation Rumors: It Would Be the Right Decision
According to Jinse Finance, on Friday local time, Pulte, Director of the U.S. Federal Housing Finance Agency, issued a statement regarding rumors that Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell is considering resigning, saying, "There are reports that Jerome Powell is considering stepping down, which I find encouraging. I believe this would be the right decision for the United States, and the economy would prosper as a result." In response, analyst Adam Button commented, "This is a strange statement because it suggests there are reports that Powell is considering resigning, but I can't find any such reports. What's even more puzzling is that Pulte has long been posting on social media calling for Powell's resignation and even pre-announced this statement—despite the fact that the so-called 'reports' cited in the statement are completely untraceable. It's currently impossible to determine his true intentions, but it's worth noting that the financial markets seem to have shown no reaction to this."
