This is Kerberus' second acquisition in about a year, following the purchase of Fire in 2024, demonstrating the company's ongoing strategy of consolidating protection solutions for the crypto ecosystem.
The rise in cryptocurrency-related crimes also reinforces the importance of investing in security. According to data from Chainalysis, illicit addresses received more than $40 billion in stolen digital assets in 2024. It's estimated that users could lose more than $4 billion in cryptocurrency this year, despite the decline in ransomware cases.
Although many losses are linked to social engineering attacks, malware remains one of the main risks faced by both ordinary users and institutions. With the incorporation of Pocket Universe, Kerberus aims to offer an additional layer of defense against this type of threat, expanding its presence in security solutions for Ethereum, Solana, and other compatible blockchains.
