Anti-CBDC provision included in must-pass US House defense bill
According to ChainCatcher, The Block reports that an anti-central bank digital currency (CBDC) provision has been included in a defense appropriations bill considered a "must-pass" piece of legislation. This provision has been added to the latest version of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) in the U.S. House of Representatives.
The newly established section in the bill is titled the "Anti-CBDC Surveillance State Act," and its content is consistent with the bill previously introduced independently by House Majority Whip Tom Emmer. Earlier this summer, the full House passed Emmer's bill by a vote of 219 to 210, aiming to prohibit the Federal Reserve from directly issuing a central bank digital currency to individuals.
