What are futures funding fees?
To ensure that the perpetual futures price reflects the underlying asset's spot market price, exchanges implement a funding rate mechanism.
When the market is bullish (futures trade at a premium), the funding rate is positive—longs pay shorts.
When the market is bearish, the funding rate is negative—shorts pay longs.
